Privacy Policy

Effective 6 October 2026

Ratcatcher is a character sheet app for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It does not collect, sell or share any personal data. This page explains where the things you enter in the app are kept, and what the card in a free copy sends.

What the app stores

Your characters, their portraits, the content packs you import, the entries you create and your settings are stored on your device. The app has no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no tracking.

The card for another indie app

A copy of Ratcatcher without the Supporter purchase shows one card for another indie app under your list of characters. The card comes from Kickstart Exchange, through its open-source KickstartSDK, the only third-party code in the app. To choose and count the card, the app sends Kickstart Exchange its version, platform and bundle identifier, the App Store country, and whether the card was shown, tapped or reported. A copy installed from the App Store also sends Apple’s signed proof of that, which Kickstart Exchange checks and does not keep. None of this identifies you, nothing about your characters is sent, and Kickstart Exchange keeps its records for about 30 days. It matches apps, not people, and tracks no one; its privacy notice has the details. A copy with the Supporter purchase shows no card and sends nothing to Kickstart Exchange.

The Supporter purchase

Supporter is an In-App Purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. The developer never sees your payment details; the app only asks Apple whether your Apple Account holds the purchase, and keeps that answer on your device.

iCloud

When you are signed in to iCloud, the app keeps your data in sync between your devices through your own private iCloud storage (CloudKit and iCloud key-value storage). That data is held by Apple under your Apple Account and Apple’s privacy policy. The developer cannot see or access it. You can turn iCloud off for Ratcatcher in your device’s settings, or delete its data from your iCloud storage settings.

Photos and files

A portrait is chosen with the system photo picker, which gives the app only the photo you pick. Characters, content packs and printed sheets are exported only where you choose to save or share them, and files are imported only when you choose them.

Beta testing

If you test a beta through TestFlight, Apple shares with the developer the feedback and screenshots you choose to send, crash logs and usage data from the beta, and the other information Apple lists in its TestFlight terms, such as your name, email address and device details. They are used only to fix problems, improve the app and answer your feedback. If you have opted in to share analytics with app developers, Apple may also share crash data from the released app.

This web site

This site counts page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify individual visitors.

Children

The app collects no personal data from anyone, children included. The card’s details above identify no one.

Changes and contact
